Day 3 Quitting Smoking

Good Morning!

Yesterday I smoked 12 again same as day 2 so 1 more then the goal but 4 less then my average.

As you all know from my post yesterday it was a rough day but I held off pretty well and it started to get easier as the day went on. Thank you again for the ones the did comment with some words of advice for me I really appreciate it.

Today I feel great I went to the gym earlier this morning then I have been going so I could run a couple of miles. I am surprised in how much that has suppressed my urges this morning to smoke and I am thinking I am implement this in my program a little more often. But I still hate running and it will not become a habit ha!

Very optimistic today feel like I can accomplish anything I want to and shooting for a great day I have only smoked 1 so far this morning so I am off to a way better start then previously. I also woke up and drank to large glasses of water (Jonathan has suggested this to me) and I am shocked with how much energy I feel like I have just from water.

Yesterday is over whether it was good or bad its now the past and does not affect what you can do today.

Thank You Everyone
Love
Patrick

  3. Good job, Patch. Keep it up. A couple things I'd try:

Replace the "thing you do while driving" with something like an audio book. Do this every time you get in your truck. Let something like this become your association with driving. It'll help a lot to engage you mentally and keep your thoughts off of smoking, plus you're enriching your mind.

I found that playing with something in my fingers like I would a cigarette (like a couple inches of a drinking straw) would help me out a ton when I was trying to break the physical habit of smoking. It would even help me not smoke altogether after I'd completely quit.

Hope some of this helps—the less you smoke, the faster you'll notice. It's totally worth it man, it was the best thing I ever did for myself.

    1. Awesome stuff Jonathan! I was gonna suggest the audiobooks too and Lynds tells me they have those flavored toothpicks at whole foods.

  4. So, you're saying you don't want to start training for a half marathon with me? It sounds like you're doing some great things and staying positive. Each day at a time. You're doing awesome!

I read something today about tips on quitting smoking. It said, "..focus on eating more fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy products. A Duke University study suggests these foods make cigarettes taste terrible. This gives you a leg up in fighting your cravings while providing disease-fighting nutrients." Sounds like a great thing to add into your daily diet if you're not doing it already.

    Love you, Patrick!

    2. That's sounds like a great idea Kim! I need to incorporate some more fruits in my diet anyway so that could be something easy for me to incorporate.
